Product Overview

High Stability Turn-Key Laser Diode System

These Turn-Key laser diode systems are designed for laboratory R&D applications. They offer low noise, high stability performance. They are based on an integrated Nichia laser diode which is mounted to a Peltier cooled/ thermally stabilized mounting pedestal. These systems include the laser diode controller unit and the required Interface cable. The controller unit is a low noise precision current source and TEC / temperature controller. Pre-set current and temperature limits in the controller unit ensure that the laser diode is protected from damage.

Multiple Integrated Laser Diode Protection Features

These units offer multiple layers of protection for the Integrated laser diode. In addition to pre-set current, voltage, and temperature limits, they utilize a LASORB protection diode electrically In parallel with the laser to provide fail-safe protection against damaging ESD and power surges. The pre-set limits are calibrated for the integrated for the Nichia laser diode. Limits prevent over-driving the laser, and the controller unit has an over-temperature shut-down feature.

User Adjustable Laser Diode Output Power & Modulation

These units are shipped fully calibrated & pre-tested with the matching current source and temperature controller as well as the required interface cable. The controller unit allows the user to set the output power of the laser module and apply a modulation signal (DC to 10 KHz). This can be done by using the knob on the front panel or through a modulation / analog control input on the rear panel of the controller unit.

Versatile Options and Accessories

The laser diode module can be ordered with options that increase your flexibility, and increase the operational flexibility of the module. Please contact us.

  • Fiber-Coupled Output *

Fiber Patch Cable Output, order option –KVAFC Single-mode fiber, with FC/UPC connector. Other options are available; click here to see options.

  • Benchtop Controller
Benchtop Controller, Model LDC-405. Provides easy-to-use front panel interface and fiber output.

* POWER LOSS ASSOCIATED WITH FIBER-COUPLED OUTPUT: Please note that when a free-space laser diode is coupled to fiber there is some loss associated with the collimating lens employed in the coupling of the light. There is also power loss associated with the fiber coupler assembly and with the fiber patch cable. The LDX laser system has power loss associated with the fiber-coupling of the output of approximately 15 to 20% of the total power.
