Product Overview
A Complete, All-Inclusive Solution for Short-Pulse Laser Diode Applications
The Model 976LD-2-2-1 offers a complete, all-inclusive solution for applications requiring a narrow pulse width. The laser diode ships with a pre-configured CCS series control electronics and mounting unit. The laser diode driver is designed to allow the user to adjust current pulses width from 1 nanosecond to CW. The user can also adjust the repetition rate / frequency, current amplitude, laser diode temperature and all operating parameters. It offers an affordable, compact, complete solution for laboratory R&D or product integration applications.
976nm Fiber Bragg Grating Stabilized Laser Diode; 14-pin Butterfly Package
The included laser diode is offered in an industry standard 14-pin butterfly package (“Type 1” pin configuration). The fiber-coupled butterfly package is electrically floating, allowing for flexibility in mounting and selection of the bias current source. The butterfly package includes a 10K thermistor, a TE cooler and a monitor photodiode. The user has the option to replace the laser diode with any Type-1 pin configuration butterfly packaged laser in the future if/as needed.
Impedance Matched Butterfly Mounting Socket for Clean Short-Pulse Performance
The butterfly packaged laser diode has been impedance matched to the pulsed current driver in the PCB in the mounting socket to ensure clean pulse performance with very little ring or overshoot. To achieve the shortest possible pulses, the customer has the option to request that the butterfly package be soldered into the mounting socket.
CCS Series Pulsed / CW Laser Diode Control Electronics and Butterfly Package Mounting Module
The control electronics and mounting module for these laser diodes delivers high stability current pulses. The pulses can be generated internally by the on-board pulse generator, or from user supplied external TTL signal. The external trigger source can be used to directly pulse the laser diode or to trigger the pulse parameters which are preset in the CCS control module. These control modules offer multiple protection features for the laser diode. They ensure that your laser diode is protected and operated safely. A user-set current limit protects the laser diode in both Pulsed and CW modes. The TEC controller provides a temperature limit to protect the laser diode from over-heating and thermal damage. Additionally, multiple bias current / voltage protection features are designed to keep the laser diode safe from ESD, power outages and reverse voltage.
USB and Control Software
The user can set and monitor all of the control parameters of the laser diode using the USB input and the supplied GUI software. These units ship with the USB cable to connect your PC to the connector on the side panel. A simple to use single page menu graphical user interface allows you to control all of the pulse or CW parameters as well as set current and temperature limits. Other features of these control modules include a daisy chain output, sync output, alarm monitor and back facet monitor output to monitor the laser power.
