Product Overview
1.5 Amp OEM CW and Pulsed Laser Diode Driver Overview
The LDD-1124 is a specialized laser diode driver able to bias semiconductor lasers in a pulsed mode of operation. It can also be operated in standard continuous wave (CW) mode. The core design element of the module’s internal current source is the ability to generate highly precise 333 picosecond timing steps that result in 30 μA resolution and very low ripple. These modules are offered with an option to add a photodiode measurement circuit. The model LDD-1124-SV-LPC can also be operated as a laser power supply and laser power controller. All of the model LDD-1124’s offer robust LD safety features, including an input for laser diode temperature monitoring. They are fully digitally controlled and their firmware can be upgraded to meet specific customer requirements.
Laser Diode Protection
To provide the highest level of protection for the LD, the monitoring and correction of critical system parameters is directly implemented in hardware. Critical parameters include current, voltatge and temperature limits. The implementation of protection through firmware (not software) results in very fast switch-off times of < 8 microseconds in the event that a limit value violation is detected. These modules also monitor laser diode temperature (NTC thermistor input) and will shut-off if a preset value is exceeded.
Laser Diode Driver Control Software
The LDD Service Software is a powerful tool that allows monitoring and full configuration of the LDD-1124 using a standard USB or an RS485 connection. It is included with the purchase price of the LDD module. This tool is ideal for laboratory setups, product evaluation, diagnosis, debugging and commissioning. Key functionalities include:
