Product Overview
LDI-824 High Power Laser Diode Driver
The high power LDI-824 drivers offer up to 1.7 killowatts of output power to high voltage pump laser diodes, laser diodes connected in series, stacks and multi-single chip emitter devices. These laser diode drivers feature multiple levels of built-in laser diode protection which have been optimized for high voltage / high power laser diodes. They are used to safely power the newest generation of pump lasers from companies such as Coherent, nLight, AeroDIODE, Lumics, DILAS, and II-IV. These units offer CW, modulated and Quasi-CW/ pulsed modes and have an integrated function generator. Pulse widths as narrow as 30 microseconds are achievable.
Laser Diode Protection Features
These laser diode drivers include all industry standard laser diode protection features such as current limit, soft-start current ramp and power surge clamps to make sure that your laser diode is protected at all times. Additionally, they offer additional protection circuits designed specifically for high voltage pump lasers. The user has the ability to adjust the soft-soft current ramp time in order to lengthen or shorten the current ramp time based on the application. In CW applications, the user can lengthen the current rise time to reduce the possibility of thermal shock damaging the multi-single chip emitters. In QCW applications, the user can shorten the rise time to optimize for clean pulses. The LDI-824 is pre-set to a 300 millisecond soft-start current ramp which is optimal for general use conditions. These units also include a fast all-analog feedback loop to sense open circuit conditions and automatically short the current output to the laser diode when needed. This helps prevent damage which can be caused by over-voltage or over-current response from an intermittent contact in the current path.
Laser Diode Driver User Interface
The LDI-824 features front panel controls for fast and simple setup, and includes an RS232 interface as well as USB adapter option with LabView drivers. These laser diode drivers utilize a high current SubDW2 rear panel connector and there are multiple cabling options available to ensure reliable connection to your device under test. The model 824 is offered in a rack-mount 19 inch chassis. It also includes “flip-up” feet on the bottom of the chassis for use on a laboratory bench or optical table.
